Prescilla HOSKIN

HOSKIN Prescilla Destura Hoskin, aged 44 years, of Rock Creek, BC. passed away June 24, 2008 at 10:00 am. She was born Prescilla Dornaloan Destura in Manilla, Philippines, daughter of Julian and Marian Destura. She grew up in and received her schooling in Manilla. She went to work immediately upon leaving school as she wished to work abroad. She spent a year in Hong Kong before traveling to Canada where she met and married Richard Hoskin. They lived and farmed in Lousana, Alberta before relocating to Rock Creek, BC. Together they had one son, Daniel Nicholas Hoskin. Prescilla was a talented gardener, fabulous cook and a ferocious scrabble player. She was known for her generosity, warm heart, and forthright style. She was predeceased by her mother Maria Destura, her father Julian Destura and her brothers Charlindo Destura and Carlito Destura. After a lengthy and hard fought battle with cancer, Prescilla succumbed to breast cancer. She died peacefully in her own home with family at her side. She is survived by her husband Richard Hoskin of Rock Creek, BC., her son, Daniel Hoskin of Rock Creek, her step-children Megan (Tim) Taylor of Castlegar, BC, Tobi (Dave) Duckering of Red Deer, AB., Robert Hoskin of Rock Creek, BC., her brothers Romualdo Destura of Guam, USA., and Rino Destura of the Philippines, Perlita (Rio) Ulanday of Calgary, AB., and Leonida (Romeo) Din of the Philippines; as well as many nieces and nephews of Canada, Los Angeles, Guam and the Philippines. If desired donations can be made in Prescilla's name to charities benefiting breast cancer research.
