PRICE

September 28, 2006

PRICE, 1952 – 2006 Geoff Price passed away peacefully at the Red Deer Hospice on Friday, September 22, 2006, four days before his 54th birthday. He was surrounded by his family: his wife Anne, son Ken, daughter Nancy, and son-in-law Graham. His family, colleagues, and friends were fascinated that he was equally gifted at both art and engineering. He enjoyed painting watercolours, playing the guitar, gardening, and building model railways. In earlier years he loved playing rugby and joining in the after-game social activities. As a creative cook, he ensured that every visitor left his home well fed. He said, though, that he felt his greatest accomplishments were in some of the mechanical designs he created. He will be remembered for his great sense of humour, attention to detail, corny puns, dedication to his family, and unfailing morality. He could remember a line from a song for every occasion, which may account for his children's love of singing. Geoff was a big man both literally and figuratively. His "wing span" was 6’7” and his heart was just as wide. Geoff endured, with remarkable strength and faith, nearly eight years of illness related to a slowly developing thymic cancer. He chose to have his remains donated to medical training and research in the hope that something might be learned from his condition. He suggested that, in place of flowers, a donation could be made to the Red Deer Hospice Society, 99 Arnot Avenue, Red Deer, Alberta, T4R 3S6. A Public Service and Reception in Celebration of Geoff's Life will be held at Eventide Funeral Chapel, 4820 - 45th Street, Red Deer, Alberta on Saturday, October 21, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. Please join the family in some joyful remembrances of him.
