Ralph "Eric" Alan Steele beloved husband of Kathleen "Katie" of Calgary, passed away on Sunday, August 18, 2013 at the age of 81 years. Eric was born in Red Deer and raised on the family farm in Willowdale before moving to Calgary in his early twenties. Eric started trucking once settled in Calgary, and founded Steele's Transfer Limited, that Eric and Katie grew into a well-known and respected Calgary trucking firm. Eric was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Besides his loving wife Katie, Eric is survived by children Alan (Beth), Peter (Lynda), Brenda and Dennis (Helen); sisters Mona Cruickshank and Heather Swainson; brother Irving Steele; nine grandchildren, Matthew, Taylor, Kendra, Eric, Ashley, Stephanie, Stacie, Jake and Emma; two great-grandchildren, Charlise and Aden. He was predeceased by two brothers-in-law, Robert Cruickshank and Richard Swainson and sister-in-law Carol Steele. Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY'S, Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North Calgary, AB) on Friday, August 23, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at Queen's Park Cemetery.
