Ray

1947 – 2014

After a courageous battle with cancer, Raymond Arthur Lawrence passed away peacefully at the Red Deer Regional Hospital on September 29, 2014 at the age of 67. Ray was born on February 19, 1947 in Eckville, went to school in Sylvan Lake and has called Benalto home for the past 38 years. He owned and operated his gas plant maintenance business for over 35 years. He loved his sports as he grew up playing hockey and baseball. With the Rocky Mountains so close, he spent many summer and fall seasons camping and hunting with his family and friends. Grieving Ray’s loss are his loving wife Lynne, children Caron (Darren), Allan (Anji), Stacey, Jimmy (Brandy), his 10 grandchildren, his sister Lois (Hugh), brother Ron, sister-in-law Margaret, brother-in-law Barry (Cathy) and many nieces and nephews. Ray was predeceased by his parents Myron and Margaret, brother Leonard and nephew Robert. A Celebration of Ray’s life will be held at the Benalto Hall on Thursday October 9th, 2014 at 1:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations will be accepted by the Benalto Booster Club Train Station Fund, Box 135, Benalto, AB, T0M 0H0.
