Raymond REAR

September 28, 2005

REAR Raymond Lester was born at Olds, Alberta, on July 7, 1929, and passed away peacefully on September 22, 2005, at the age of 76, surrounded by his family. He lived in the Wimborne and Trochu area all of his life. Raymond tried his hand at driving truck and was a founding partner of what became known as Guard Implements. But he was a farmer at heart and returned to take over the family farm, raising Maine Anjou cattle in addition to grain farming. He greatly enjoyed his hobby of restoring old John Deere tractors; his association with the Two Cylinder Club led him on many a trek with friends to show off his tractors, and to compete at tractor pulls. In October 2004 Raymond made the decision to leave the farm and move to Red Deer, taking up residence at Redwood Estates, where in his quiet and gentle manner, he developed many new friendships. Redwood was his home until his passing. He leaves to mourn his passing his brother Cecil (Donna) Rear of Red Deer, step-mother Violet Rear of Wimborne, 5 step sisters and brothers, nieces Sherry (Keith) Gummow of Ponoka, Susan Gail Rear of Bowden, Jeanette Morrison of Beaumont, Nora Lee Rear of Calgary, Sharon (Trevor) Hillis and nephew Bill Muncaster, both of Ponoka; 5 great nieces, 6 great nephews; one great-great niece and four great-great nephews. Raymond also leaves a large number of extended relatives and friends who mourn his passing. He was predeceased by his parents, Tom and Bernice Rear, sister Alverda Muncaster, brother-in-law Cecil Muncaster and sisters-in-law Joan Rear and Lorraine Flinn. Funeral Services were held Monday, September 26, 2005 at Wimborne Community Centre. Interment followed in Wimborne Cemetery. Arrangements in care of SUNSET FUNERAL SERVICE Linden, 403-546-3903.
