REIST 1907- 2008 Mary M. Reist went home to be with her Lord at the Father Lacombe Care Centre, Calgary on Thursday, January 3, 2008 at the age of 100 years. Mary was born at home on the family farm near Red Deer. She was raised and did all her schooling to Grade 12 in Red Deer. Mary did a year of Normal School in Calgary and taught in the Cremona area at Byron and West Hope schools from 1927-1933. In 1933 she married Gilbert M. Reist and they farmed in the Springvale district until 1965. In 1963, Mary resumed teaching until retirement in 1972 at the Fairview School in Red Deer. She was involved in her church, teaching Sunday school and Bible Studies. Mary was a part of Springvale WI and WCTU. She is survived by two sons, Grant (Emeline) of Abbotsford, British Columbia, Merle (Karen) of Mississauga, Ontario, a daughter Marilyn (John) Kish of Calgary, a brother, Bob (Betty) Comfort of Edmonton, a sister, Doris Airhart of Calgary, eight grandsons, seventeen great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Mary was predeceased by her loving husband, Gilbert in 1973, three brothers, Ronald, Gordon, Ben and a sister, Agnes. Relatives and friends are invited to come pay their respects at Eventide Funeral Chapel, 4820-45 Street, Red Deer on Saturday, January 12, 2008 from 9:30 -10:30 a.m. A Celebration of Mary's Life will be held at the First Church Of The Nazarene, 2 McVicar Street, Red Deer on Saturday, January 12, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. A Private Family Interment will be held at Alto-Reste Cemetery.
