STEWART, Rhoda

1937 - 2017

Mrs. Rhoda Stewart (nee Clark) passed away peacefully at Points West Living, Red Deer, Alberta on Thursday, December 21, 2017 at the age of 80 years.

Rhoda was born on November 19, 1937 to proud parents, Bill and Joan Clark at Red Deer, Alberta. She lived in Red Deer most of her life, except in her teens, when she lived in Edmonton. She then moved back to Red Deer, and there she met Glen Stewart. The couple married on July 2, 1956 and started a family, with four beautiful children. Rhoda worked at Monarch Life Insurance for many years. After Glen's passing in 1978, Rhoda met Ken Deinstadt in 1981, and moved to Prince Rupert, British Columbia. They later moved to Oona River, and together, continued Ken's livelihood of commercial crab fishing.

When it was time to retire, they moved to Lacombe for thirteen years, and then moved to the farm. Rhoda resided on the farm until her dementia worsened. She moved to Olds for fifteen months, and then to Points West Living, Red Deer; where she stayed for another fifteen months, until her passing. Rhoda had a big heart, and loved to play piano and the accordion; she also loved to crochet and knit. She always had hugs to give, whether she knew you or not.

Rhoda will be deeply missed by her partner of thirty-seven years, Ken Deinstadt; her daughters, Melodie (Dan) Belich of Red Deer, Alberta, Wendy (Scott) Valin of Carstairs, Alberta, Susan (Ted) Rouse of Las Vegas, USA; her son, Jim Stewart of Langly, British Columbia; her step sons, Les (Laura) Lanterman and Ray (Rhonda) Lanterman of Terrace, British Columbia; her step daughters, Kathy Davis of Prince George, British Columbia, and Gayle Deinstadt (Brian Sommerville) of Qualicum Beach, British Columbia; eight grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren, numerous step grandchildren; and a sister, Rowena of Ontario.

Rhoda was predeceased by her husband, Andrew Glen Stewart and parents, Bill and Joan Clark.

A Celebration of Rhoda's Life will be held at the Poplar Ridge Community Hall, Red Deer County, Alberta (Hwy 11 West and North 2 miles on Range Road 283) on Saturday, January 13, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. If desired, Memorial Donations in Rhoda's honor may be made directly to The Stollery Children's Hospital at www.stollerykids.com.
