CHABOT

1961 - 2014

We were forced to say "See You Later" to our dearest Richard (Reg) Robert Chabot of Red Deer when he passed away at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre on Thursday, January 23, 2014 at the age of 52 years. Richard was born in 1961 to Paul and Therese Chabot in Arborfield, Sask. It was there that he resided and attended school. Richard played a variety of sports of which he excelled. His favorite sports were hockey, lacrosse and football. He moved to Nipawin, Sask. in his senior year to play goal for the Nipawin Hawks. It was there that he met his future wife, Tracy. In 1980, he began post secondary school at the University of Saskatchewan and in 1984 received his Bachelor of Commerce. Later Richard would complete his Certified General Accounting Designation. Richard and Tracy were married that same year. Joy filled their lives with the birth of three sons, Tanner, Christian and Lucas. Tanner would eventually bring a "daughter from another mother", Tracy Carrier, into their lives. Richard's professional life culminated in 2001 when he and Tracy moved to Red Deer so Richard could join his brother Ron in the music store (53rd Street Music). They maintained an incredible working and personal relationship until they sold the store and retired in October, 2011. Over the years, Richard was very involved with the boy's sports as well as his own. Over a span of many years, he played and coached hockey as well as lacrosse. He met many amazing friends both young and old through these pursuits. He also loved fishing, skiing, lake time, travel and the pleasure of being with family and friends and was always the life of the party with his unabashed sense of humor and laughter. Richard leaves a large family to mourn his loss, wife Tracy; sons Tanner (Tracy Carrier), Christian and Lucas all of Red Deer; four brothers Fern(Florence) of Saskatoon, Dan (Marg) of Calgary, Lionel (Kathy) of North Battleford, Ron (Pat) of Red Deer; one sister Gloria (Lyle) Thompson of Beaumont; mother-in-law Rose Marie (Gary) Nyholt; brother-in-law Scott (Kate) Fryer of Calgary, sisters-in-law Shelly (Lee) Ostberg of Panama and Lana (Rus) Prescott of Unity, Sask. Also to cherish Richard's memory are numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and the many friends he made over the years. Richard was predeceased by his parents Paul and Therese Chabot, father-in-law Elroy Fryer and sister-in-law Toby Gossard. Family and friends are invited to an informal Celebration of Richard's life being held at Fionn MacCool's Irish Pub, 1935 - Gaetz Avenue, Red Deer on Sunday, February 2, 2014 between the hours of 1:00 pm and 5:00 pm., with the sharing of memories and a video tribute occurring at 3:00 p.m. All ages welcome. In keeping with Richard's wishes, a private interment of his urn will take place at a later date. Memorial donations may be directed to the Red Deer Regional Health Foundation (R.D.R.H.C.
