It is with deep sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Richard (Rick) Ernest Johanson, age 49 on Friday, November 2, 2018.
Rick was doing what he loved, working on his farm near Sylvan Lake, Alberta. Rick is survived by his loving wife Jodi of 24 years and their 4 children, Austin, Justis, Rilea and Elijah, his parents, Eric and Phyllis, his siblings, their spouses, his numerous nieces and nephews, his loving in-laws, and many other family members and friends, who will all miss him dearly. He was the fourth of six children who were raised Seventh Day Adventist. He attended Riverglen School and Parkview Adventist Academy in Lacombe. He passionately farmed his family homestead with his father for over 30 years, with the help of all his children whom he loved teaching. Rick will be remembered for his gentle loving nature and quirky humour. He was actively involved in and loved helping with his children's hockey, lacrosse and 4-H.
Rick was such a loving and engaging father and was anticipating a future with a house full of grandchildren. At the time of his death he had plans to expand his farm with his son Elijah.
Service will be held on Friday, November 9th at College Heights Seventh Day Adventist Church in Lacombe, Alberta, at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Sylvan Lake Minor Hockey Association in Rick's memory.
