April 11, 1952 - September 24, 2021
It is with deep sorrow & much love, that we mourn the passing of Richard Wayne Hanson of Red Deer, AB.
Rick was born on April 11th,1952 in Medford, OR. to Milton & Doreen Hanson and passed away peacefully at the U of A in Edmonton, AB September 24th, 2021.
Rick always lived his life to the fullest and he lived it his way.. His passions were his guitar, his motorbike, but his biggest passion and Love were his Children and Grandchildren. When he talked about them and their accomplishments, his face would light up and that sparkle in his eyes.. did it ever shine. He could light up a room with that sparkle. They were his world, the best Grandpa ever!
At the young age of 17 Rick drove a van with his Mother and his 8 younger siblings across the US border into Canada to start a new adventure with their Dad. Settling in Rocky Mtn. House he joined a band Twisted Braid, later on moving to Red Deer it was the band Tracker. You hardly ever saw him without a guitar in his arms.
During the last few years after retiring from the oil patch he spent his time with his youngest 3 children, riding their motorbikes, exploring the mountains, teaching the guitar and singing, and of course being the best Grandpa ever. This was his world.
Rick is survived by his 7 children and 13 Grandchildren. 8 siblings, and their families. Many Cousins and Friends.
He was predeceased by his parents Milton & Doreen Hanson, brother Randall Hanson, Nephew Devron Hanson and Paternal Grandparents.
Cremation entrusted to Park Memorial Home and Crematorium, Edmonton, AB.
A private service will be held at a later date at the Pine Grove Cemetery, Rocky Mountain House, AB.
