Rita Anderson of Red Deer passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, at the Red Deer Regional Hospital on Sunday, July 20, 2014, at the age of 65 years. Rita was born on May 15, 1949 in Saskatoon and moved to Red Deer with her family in 1959. She did her schooling in Red Deer starting at Grade 3 and met her best friend, Marilee, who remained her friend until this day. Rita and Don married on February 10, 1968 and together they raised their children. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother. Her primary focus in life was her children and grandchildren, attending their school, sports, dance, and various other activities they participated in. Rita will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Don Anderson, her daughter, Kari-Ann (Mickey) Souchuk, and her cherished grandchildren; Joseph, Rhéa, and Grace Souchuk, Corey and Brent Anderson. She is also survived by sisters; Georgette Worth and Janet Roth, and their families, brothers; Ronald and Tom Robert, and their families, numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. Rita was predeceased by her son, Ron Anderson, brothers; Bernie and Roland Robert, and her parents. A Celebration of Rita’s Life will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 5508 48A Avenue, Red Deer, on Thursday, July 24, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. Memorial donations in Rita’s name may be made directly to the Red Deer & District SPCA, 4505 77 Street, Red Deer, Alberta, T4P 2J1.
