SIVACOE
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Rita Sivacoe, beloved wife, Mother, Grandmother, and Great Grandmother. Rita passed away October 26, 2009 after a brief stay in the Red Deer Hospital. Rita was born May 4, 1931, the sixth child of eight born to Jacob and Mary Skarra. Rita was born and raised and attended most of her schooling in Glaslyn, Saskatchewan before moving to the Stettler area. She married Arthur Sivacoe on June 7, 1949 in Stettler. Art worked in the seismic business, operating a recording truck, so this meant many moves to the next job location. Rita always worked to transform the next location into a home for the family. When Art changed careers going to the gas processing industry, Rita moved to the Crowsnest Pass where she made the new location, home for the family. In 1964 the family moved to Sylvan Lake where Art eventually retired before Art and Rita moved to Red Deer. There, Rita pursued her immense passion for gardening, always saying next year she won't plant as much. The garden never got any smaller. Working in her garden provided Rita the opportunity to enjoy another passion of hers, bird watching. Left to cherish her memory are her husband Arthur Sivacoe; son Richard (Birdeen) Sivacoe; daughter Rachel Redpath; grandchildren Aaron (Laurel) Sivacoe and Bradley Sivacoe; sister Florence (John) Lattery; brother in law Dennis Nolin; as well as other relatives and friends. Predeceased by parents Mary and Jacob, brothers: George, Ted, and Frank; sisters Lucy Nolin and Agnes (Paul) Klaus. Funeral services were held at the Heartland Chapel of Stettler Funeral Home, Stettler, Alberta on November 2, 2009, with Father Arlan Parenteau, of Christ King Catholic Church, officiating. Rita was laid to rest at Lake View Cemetery, Stettler, Alberta with Pallbearers Richard Sivacoe, Aaron Sivacoe, Brad Sivacoe, Bill Hammond, Bill Pochylko and substituting for Ferdie Nicklom was Jim Bogdanovich. Family and friends gathered for a time of fellowship and a luncheon prepared and served by the Linda Hall Ladies.
