Robert

1933 - 2014

Mr. Robert J. 'Bob' Anderson of Red Deer, passed away peacefully at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre on Thursday, December 4, 2014 at the age of 81 years. Bob was born on July 5, 1933 to Benjamin and Mary Anderson at the Coronation Hospital, Coronation, Alberta. His father passed away when Bob was only seven, and his mother and other siblings moved from the farm. Bob attended school in Coronation and other schools around the area. After school years, he worked for a short while for the Canadian Pacific Railway in Coronation, but work was not plentiful, so he went to work for Sun Oil Company at seismic in the fields around Alberta. In 1955, Bob married Eunice Dafoe in Calgary, Alberta and they both worked there for a time. Their oldest son, Des was born there. Bob went out to the field with Sun Oil and spent some time in the Oil Rig Business around the Province. In those years, their youngest son, Randy was born. He also worked driving a cat for Special Areas and then bought a shoe repair shop in Hanna, Alberta, and also sold new shoes. In 1967, he moved to Westlock, Alberta where he worked for Plains Western Gas Co. The family stayed there for three years. In 1970, they bought some land in the Westerose Area, where they made it into a farm. Bob and Eunice worked at the Gulf Rimbey Gas Plant from 1970 to 1993 and then retired after twenty-one years. The couple then moved into Red Deer in August 2001. Bob had many hobbies and loved to bowl, golf and help out the neighbors. Bob will be lovingly remembered by his beloved wife of fifty-nine years, Eunice of Red Deer, his son, Des and his wife, Bonnie of Usona, Alberta, his son Randy (Nancy) of Calgary, his grandsons, Kelly (Shelley) and Kraig (Maureen) of Calgary, granddaughters, Amanda and Stacey and his great grandchildren, Marlee, Tucker, Hayden, Riley and Gavin. He will also be sadly missed by his brother, Calvin (Marg), brother, Ross, and his sister-in-law, Inez; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. A Private Family Service was held. If desired, Memorial Donations in Bob's honor may be made directly to S.T.A.R.S. at www.stars.ca or to a charity of the donor's choice.
