Bob passed away peacefully at home in the early morning of November 20, 2021 with his beloved wife Marilyn by his side. Bob was born in 1951 in Vancouver. He grew up in the suburb of Richmond and later attended Douglas College and Simon Fraser University, where he graduated as a special-needs teacher.
Bob moved to Red Deer in 1983 and taught at Michener Services and Parkland School, and then taught at Westpark Middle School as their special-needs teacher. Bob was admired and respected by his colleagues and much loved by his students.
During the 70 years he was with us, Bob inspired us with his wit, wisdom and unwavering optimism. Bob never faltered in his positive outlook, nor did he lose his zest for life in spite of the challenges he faced. Bob loved his family, his friends and, especially, baseball (go Blue Jays!).
Bob is survived by his wife, Marilyn and her daughter Patricia (Ryan) Blair and her children Zackary and Brody of Airdrie, AB; her son Richard (Byul) Hutchinson and their children Kaylan and Jonathan of Red Deer, AB; his sister Kim (David) Brummond of Kamloops, BC; and his brother Michael (Bonnie) Machuk of Red Deer, AB.
Bob was predeceased by his parents, John and Muriel Machuk.
A celebration of Bob's life will be held in the spring. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate a donation to Good Hearts Foundation in Edmonton or to a charity of your choice. For a more detailed obituary, visit meaningfulmemorials.ca
