Robert CONNOLLY

February 16, 2006

CONNOLLY Robert James Connolly (Bob) died February 13 at his home at Bethany Collegeside. Born in Edmonton in 1953, Bob was severely limited by cerebral palsy, yet lived his life, not timidly, but actively. His late parents, Philip and Doris, strived to provide a normal life for Bob, raising him at home, and enrolling him in Wolf Cubs. As an adult, Bob was a member of the Knights of Columbus, and of St. Mary's Catholic Church. Despite his difficulties in communicating, Bob remained an energetic, vociferous, and opinionated character to the end. Bob is survived by his brother Gerald (Deb) of Antigonish, N.S., his sister, guardian, and advocate Diane (Richard) McDonell of Red Deer; by his niece Colleen McDonell, and nephews Andrew McDonell, and Kyle, Sean and Kevin Connolly; by his aunts Verna, Mary, Olive, Eileen Ethel and Eleanor; by his uncle Fred; by numerous cousins; and by his special friend Trish Dolman. He is also survived by his extended family of staff and residents at Bethany Collegeside with whom he built warm and loving relations over the past year-and-a-half. Funeral Mass for Bob Connnolly will be held at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 39 St. and McMillan Avenue, Red Deer, at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, February 16, 2006; Fr. Paul Kavanagh and Fr. Don Stein presiding. Donations in Bob Connolly's memory gratefully accepted for the Collegeside Bus Fund, Bethany Care Foundation, Box 5110, R.D. T4N 7G2
