April 26, 1929 - March 5, 2020
It is with great sadness that we announce that Robert (Bob) James Boulton passed away peacefully on Thursday March 5, 2020 on the Boulton family farm. He was 90 years old.
Bob was born in Trochu at St. Mary's Hospital on April 26, 1929 to Harry and Ethel Boulton. He met his wife, then Glenna May Page, through 4-H and they were married on October 11, 1950. He studied agriculture at Olds College, was later inducted into their Hall of Fame.
Bob and Glenna raised their six children and farmed in the community of Trenville. Bob loved agriculture and was very proud of the family farm. He also had a passion for working with people: 4-H at local, provincial and national levels; the Trenville baseball team; Elks; the Elnora United Church board; church choirs; the Delburne Museum Society; the Olds College Alumni Association; and the Trenville Park board were among some of the organizations he led or took part in. In 2002, he was awarded the Queen Elizabeth II's Golden Jubilee Medal for contribution to public life.
He was predeceased by his wife Glenna, by his son Bill, his sister Muriel and brother in-law Harvey Gessleman.
Bob is survived by his children Jim (Marta), Gordon, Sandy (Barry), David (Betty), and Cheryl. Bob took great pride in his 17 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren.
A service for Bob will be held at the Elnora Community Hall on Sunday March 15th at 2 pm.
Bob is remembered with great fondness and admiration. And he is dearly missed.
