Robert (Bob) Julian Lawrence of Pine Lake, Alberta passed away very quickly on December 25, 2020 due to COVID-19 at age 82. Bob grew up at Sabre Ranch on the banks of Pine Lake surrounded by all things boys love: rolling hills, horses, cows, many cousins, uncles and aunts, hired hands to tease and learn from, and dear Mrs. Harrison.
Bob always said his best years were those when his children were growing up. He was an attentive, fun, Dad, who was generous with his praise. He gave his full interest and attention in games, play, and hands on teaching to his grandchildren.
He truly enjoyed retirement and travelling with mom. Bob was a rancher and farmer to his very essence. He loved his cattle, machinery, and trucks. His workshop was a work of art, with everything in its place. He had a work ethic to be admired, born of pure love of his life's work. It seemed as though work was play for him.
In Bob's later years he enjoyed watching the next generations continue the legacy of Sabre Ranch.
He was a charismatic man, a storyteller of the finest calibre. The twinkle in his eye often let us know the tale may be elaborated just ever so slightly. He would visit with interest with everyone and made friends with all who crossed his path in life.
Bob is survived by his dearly loved children: Peter (Shelley)Lawrence of Pine Lake, AB; Catherine Mitchell of Pincher Creek, AB; and Margo (David) Sevcik of Strathmore, AB. He is also survived by 10 beloved grandchildren; Shayne (Emily), and Matthew (Cyla) Lawrence; Sam (Karlene), Jack, Ben, and Eddie Mitchell; Susanne, Luke, Jake, and Marika Sevcik.
He was the second oldest sibling of Mary Duborg, Robert (Yvonne) Rice, Art Lawrence, Ed (Pat) Lawrence, and Elizabeth Dunbar. He was brother-in-law to Valerie and Lois Ahrens. Bob was predeceased by his dearly adored wife, Irma, in 2008, and his in-laws, Frieda (Norris) Bragg, Ludy & Alf Ahrens, and niece Marie (David) Dickinson.
He is dearly loved and will be sorely missed.
