Mr. Robert Paul Petersen of the Penhold, Alberta area passed away on Saturday, December 5, 2009 at the age of 69 years. Robert was born Harry Ratke on January 21, 1940 to Rose Ratke Bachelor, and adopted at 2 years of age by the Petersen family of Gleichen, Alberta. Robert was a farm laborer on various farms near Penhold and Innisfail, Alberta for Bill McKinnon, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Chatenay for 19 years, Tony and Theresa Rolvink as well as Cornelis and Annet den Boer for 25 years. He resided at Red Deer Bethany College Side for his remaining years. Robert is survived by his birth mother, Rose Ratke Bachelor of Keg River, Alberta, three half sisters, Shirley of Grimshaw, Alberta, Irene of Mayerthorpe, Alberta, and Alice of Fort Assiniboine, Alberta, a half brother, David of Keg River, Alberta, along with adopted sister, Marie Kraft of the United States. A funeral service for the late Mr. Robert Petersen will be held at EVENTIDE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 4820 – 45 Street, Red Deer, Alberta on Friday December 11, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Horn Hill Cemetery.
