Robert PELLETIER

PELLETIER Robert Eugene May 17, 1922 – October 7, 2008 Robert Eugene Pelletier of Red Deer passed away on Tuesday, October 7, 2008. Bob was born in Rosetown, Saskatchewan, to Camille Fortin and Joseph August Pelletier. His family moved to Morinville, Alberta when he was only two years of age, and he grew up on the farm with his many siblings. Bob was gifted with a sharp intellect and the Jesuit order provided him with an opportunity to complete University. In 1943, he received his B.A. from Laval University at the U of A extension. In 1949, he completed his B.Sc. In Mining Engineering through the U of A. Bob went on to a successful career with the Department of Highways, where he supervised the completion of the David Thompson Highway. He married Anna Barre on April 14, 1956. Together, they raised five daughters, all of whom spent many splendid years fishing and camping in the mountains while their Dad was hard at work. Bob was predeceased by his parents, and his siblings; Gerard (Anne), Isabelle (Richard Arcand), Roland, Laurent (Annie), Therese (Les Milner), Evelyn (Jean-Louis Babin), Joseph (Virginia), Romeo (Frances), Antoinette (Bill Thomlison), and, George. He is survived by his two brothers; Charlie (Dorothy) and Andy (Pat). His spirit endures through the eternal love of his life, of 52 years of marriage, Anna, and, his children salute his legacy; Louise (Wayne Butler), Denise (Ciaran Ormond), Bernice, Marie (Michael Meeres), and Carmen (Michael Ulrich). His grandchildren raise a toast to their beloved pepere; Cameron, Melissa, Ceara, Rhian, Kayla, Justine, Rachelle, Danielle, Aidan, Keelan and Jordan. Bob left for his final journey from the Red Deer Regional Hospital with his loving family wishing him "Bon Voyage". The family is grateful for all the care and compassion for the staff on Unit 22, and, in particular, for the tender concern and support of Dr. Konynenbelt. Also, special thanks to Pat Trottier for her extra care. A Prayer Service will take place at St-Mary's Catholic Church (6 McMillan Avenue, Red Deer) on Friday, October 10, 2008 at 7:30 p.m. Funeral Services will take place at St. Mary's Catholic Church on Saturday, October 11, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. For those who wish to do so, a donation in memory of Robert Pelletier may be made directly to the Alberta Cancer Foundation (c/o Central Alberta Cancer Centre, Bag 5030, Red Deer Regional Hospital, Red Deer, Alberta, T4N 6R2).
