Jan. 13, 1943 - Sept. 15, 2017

Known to everyone as Sam, Robert Stanley Kidd was the grandson of some of the earliest homesteaders in Elnora. He and his wife Gwen owned and operated Kidd's Hardware and Groceries for more than 30 years, before building Buffalo Rock Golf Course. After a brief illness, he passed away peacefully in the Three Hills Hospital at the age of 74 on September 15, 2017, surrounded by family.

Sam is survived by wife Gwen Kidd, daughter Monica Kidd (husband Steve Hunt, children Emma, Ben and Macy), daughter Alison Southworth (husband Jeff, children Christian, Ray and Matt), son Robert Kidd, Donna Screen, and sister-in-law Lucille and daughters.

He was predeceased by his beloved brother Harry.

Sam will be remembered as someone who always had a joke and a cup of coffee for a friend, someone who took pride in hard work and cared about his community.

Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to Elnora Fire Department, the Elnora Museum, or the Central Alberta Cancer Centre, or to a charity of choice.

A service was held at Elnora Community Hall on September 24.
