Ronald DEINES

October 23, 2009

DEINES Ronald Wayne July 3, 1944 - Oct. 21, 2009 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ronald Wayne Deines following a 10 year battle with prostate cancer. Mourning his loss are his wife, Sylvia and two children Rob (Sara) and Susan (Ryan) as well as his two granddaughters Josephine and Charlotte. Also mourning his loss is his sister Velma Gerrard (Jack) and brother Alan Deines (Sharon). Not least of all, his dog Toodles will greatly miss their walks around the neighbourhood. Ron spent his early years in Edmonton and in 1968 he graduated from the University of Alberta with a degree in Commerce. Ron and Sylvia met and married in 1969. Following this he became a budget and rate analyst for Alberta Power, and in 1974 he and his bother Alan began a very successful oilfield perforating company in Red Deer. Deines Perforating kept him busy until 1988. The company was then sold and the family moved to Kelowna, BC. However, Ron and Sylvia missed their Alberta roots and returned to Red Deer in 2001 to manage and expand their real estate venture. Throughout the moves, Ron developed many dear friends and lasting relationships to share with him his passions and interests. We all know that Ron's obsession with vehicles, especially Corvettes consumed many hours of intense devotion. Since being diagnosed with prostate cancer he became an empowered patient, always providing advice to others suffering from the disease. Ron constantly encouraged all men to receive routine screening for prostate cancer and his passing should only act to remind others to follow his advice. The family would like to thank all of those friends and family that came to support Ron over the last few months. A private family ceremony is to be held in Edmonton at a later date. Condolences to the family can be sent to: RonDeinesMemorial@gmail.com If friends so desire, memorial donations in Ron's name may be made to Canadian Cancer Society, 4730a Ross Street, Red Deer, Alberta T4N 1X2 or Red Deer and District SPCA, 4505 - 77 Street, Red Deer, Alberta T4R 3S6, PERSONAL ALTERNATIVE FUNERAL SERVICES Unit 1, 6828 - 50 Avenue Red Deer, Alberta T4N 5G1 403-341-5181 entrusted with arrangements.
