It is with sadness that the family of Ron Gaetz announces his passing. He died after a lengthy illness at the age of 86 years.
Ron is survived by Rea Welansky and his brother George. He leaves behind his children Janet, Michael, William (Bill) & Kent. Son-in-law Ward, daughters-in-law Leah and My-Phuong, sister-in-law Shirley and nephew Tyson. His grandchildren Jake,
Sophie, Logan, Evan, Teagan and Constance all remember their grandpa with great love and affection.
Ron was born in Red Deer and was from a 3rd Gaetz generation that lived on the family farm South of Red Deer. He was an active outdoors individual who enjoyed playing hockey and broomball as well as hunting and trapping or Slack's slough. In his late 20's he met and married Ann Carter. They had three children and lived on the hill on the Gaetz property. Ron worked for Chrysler Canada in the parts department and later sales which involved moving to many cities across Canada. Ron eventually moved to the Okanagan region where he continued to work in sales and business ventures. It was there he met Rea and they both enjoyed many years of fishing and boating in the local area.
Ron was predeceased by his mother Mabel, Father Percy and sister Marie.
A private family memorial will be held later this summer.
