Ronald SALWAY

April 12, 2008

SALWAY Ronald Howard Salway, beloved son, brother and uncle, was summoned by our Lord on April 8, 2008. Born on October 2, 1952, in Esterhazy, Saskatchewan, Ron exhibited a talent in the arts early on. He was encouraged by his teachers and, throughout his life, he created many wonderful paintings and drawings that will serve as lasting memories of his gift. Ron earned his B.A. at the University of Victoria and then attended the University of Waterloo in Ontario where he achieved his Masters of Fine Arts. He had a public showing of his later works in Ontario prior to his return to Edmonton. Ron was very well read and an avid conversationalist. He also loved to fish. The Spanish painter Pablo Picasso said that “Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once he grows up.” Perhaps this accounts for the way children loved to be around Ron. He played a very special role in the lives of many children, particularly his nieces and nephew. Ron is predeceased by his brother Randy. He is survived and loved by his parents, Ray and Helen, brothers Bruce and Ken, sister-in-law Sheila, nieces Shauna and Sara and nephew Brian, as well as many cousins, uncles and aunts. His family is sustained by the love and support of relatives and friends. A memorial service will be held Friday, April 18, at 1:00 pm at the Chapel of Howard & McBride Westlawn, 16310 Stony Plain Road, with Rev. Fred Albert officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Ron may be made to Stars Air Rescue, Building 16, 29 Airport Road, Edmonton, T5G 0W6. HOWARD & MCBRIDE WESTLAWN 484-5500
