Rose FERNER

FERNER Rose Mary Ferner passed away in the Long Term Care facility at the Wetaskiwin Hospital on Wednesday, October 11, 2006. Rose was born at Leader, Saskatchewan on October 26, 1916 to parents Christian and Eva Barth. On April 15, 1939 she married Charles Ferner. To this union was born two sons; Jack and Edward. They farmed at Nakomis, Saskatchewan until 1950. At this time they moved to Alberta to the Pine Lake area where they continued farming. In 1960 they moved to Red Deer where Charles was employed by A.G.G. and Rose worked at Michener Centre. Due to health problems Rose eventually had to give up her job, but continued to do volunteer work at the West Park seniors home for a number of years. Rose enjoyed bowling, dancing and playing cards. She looked after her home and garden meticulously, and enjoyed cooking and baking. After the death of Charles in 1999, Roses health failed and in the spring of 2001 she moved to Winfield Seniors Centre. Here she resided until moving into long term care in Wetaskiwin in 2003. Rose is survived by her son and wife, Ed and MaryAnn of Camrose and daughter-in-law Joan of Red Deer; grandchildren Kim Ferner of Calgary, Scott (Geri) Ferner, Shauna Irwin, Troy (Joan) Ferner, all of Camrose. Great grandchildren Cody Ferner, Taylor and Taryn Irwin and Brandi and Brooke Ferner and many nieces and nephews. Rose was predeceased by her parents, eight brothers and sisters; Lena, Monica, Joe, Jack, Matilda, Tony, Barbara and Emil. Her husband of 60 years Charles in 1999 and son Jack in 2002. A family Memorial Service will be held at Baker Funeral Chapel in Wetaskiwin, Alberta at a later date.
