Roseanne 'Rosie' Mary Sutherland passed away peacefully at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre on Saturday, September 10, 2022 at the age of 66 years. Rosie fought her way into this world as a premature baby with Down's Syndrome who was not expected to live, but Rosie beat the odds and lived until she was 66 years old.
Rosie was never able to speak, but she always communicated her feelings very well throughout her life and led by example on how to really enjoy yourself along the way. She will be sorely missed by those of us who were fortunate enough to have her in our lives, but her memory will live on with all of us. Special thanks to Rosie's caregivers over the years and the staff on Unit 32, who made her comfortable during her last hours.
Rosie fought a tenacious battle against a recent health issue this summer but was able to go back to her Group Home until early September, when she returned to the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre. She was still in fierce fighting mode right up to the last. Rosie will be lovingly remembered by her five brothers and sisters, Shirley, Jim, Jerry, Kathy, and Don. Rosie was predeceased by her parents, Ed and Doris, along with four siblings, Stu, Shona, Bruce and Pat.
