Roy Christian Hafso, 89 years, went to be with his Lord and Savior on September 1, 2018 at home in the presence of his family.
Roy was born on October 8, 1928 in Viking, Alberta, the youngest son of Sivert and Hannah Hafso. He fondly remembered his early years shared with his 11 siblings on the Hafso farm.
Roy is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Alice Hafso (nee Kjos) and children: Ches (Ruth), Anne, Helen (Mark), Tim (Lisa), Kurt (Tammi), Mary Alice (Tom), Rebecca (Larry), Anthony (Stephany), Rhoda (Dirk), and David (Laarni). They are blessed with 39 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Their daughter, Tavia, and granddaughter, Raya, predeceased Roy.
After being ordained as a Lutheran minister in Saskatoon, Roy served in the ministry many years before moving into law enforcement as a probation officer. Roy was a man of unwavering faith in Jesus Christ. He deeply loved and appreciated his wife, Alice, and was a devoted father. Throughout his life, Roy had a strong desire to help others, a generous spirit, beautiful singing voice, appreciation of music, and great sense of humor. He will be dearly missed.
A Celebration of his life will be held on Friday, September 7, 2018 at 2:00 P.M. at the Golden Valley Lutheran Church, 5327 - 56 Ave., Viking, Alberta with Pastor Alvin Sorenson officiating. Interment to follow at the Golden Valley Lutheran Cemetery, Viking, Alberta.
