Roy Walton passed away peacefully in Ladner, B.C. on March 17, 2014 at the age of 94. He was predeceased by wife Marie and survived by current wife Dorothy, daughter Colleen, son Vaughn, 3 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. Roy was raised on the family farm east of Bowden, AB., that was homesteaded by his father Wesley in 1891. At age 22 Roy attended college in Toronto to complete a Radio Electronics degree and immediately moved to Montreal and worked for the Royal Canadian Ferry Command at Dorval airport. Roy installed electronic equipment in all types of warplanes being shipped overseas. At the end of the war, Roy returned to the family farm. From 1957 to 1965, Roy worked for Calgary Power and from 1965 until his retirement at age 65 he was the Instrument Technician for the Bowden Shell Refinery. Roy’s greatest pleasures were working the family farm, enjoying summers at the Sylvan Lake cabin, and wintering in Phoenix, AZ. Roy requested that no funeral be held and that his ashes be interred at the Bowden Cemetery.
