It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing our mother, grandmother and great grandmother Ruby Day. She passed away surrounded by her family at the age of 93. She was predeceased by her husband Edward; her daughter Susan Simpson and her granddaughter Lisa Thomson; as well as two brothers and four sisters. She leaves to mourn her loss daughters Heather (Butch) Thomson and Beverley (Jerry) Mokry; her son-in-law Wally Simpson; grandchildren Dean and Rachel Thomson, Scott Thomson (Amber), Justin and Shauna Twogood, Keely Edwards, Chelsea and Ryan Morgan, Kyle and Lacey Edwards; as well as fifteen precious great grandchildren and one brother Buster Reay. She attended a one room schoolhouse in Valley Center until grade nine, then moved to Red Deer until grade twelve, then moved to Calgary to attend Normal School, becoming a teacher, a skill she practiced until her passing. She was a member of Knox Presbyterian Church and enjoyed playing music and clogging with the "Hoedowners". After retiring from being a farm wife and teacher, she travelled extensively, swimming in the dead sea, riding a camel in Egypt and visiting the Holy Land on more than one occasion. She spent thirty-three winters in Mesa, Arizona which she thoroughly enjoyed. Services will be held Friday, May 9, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Knox Presbyterian Church, Red Deer. Internment will be at the Red Deer Cemetery. Donations can be made to the charity of one's choice.
