WEIR, Ruby Marjorie 'Marj' 1925 - 2006 It is with the deepest regret that the family of Marj announce her passing. Mom passed away peacefully at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre on Sunday, September 3, 2006 at the age of 81 years. Mom was born on June 1, 1925 at LeFlech, Saskatchewan and later moved to Meadow Lake, Saskatchewan, where she was raised and obtained her education. At the age of eighteen, Mom joined the Royal Canadian Army, CWAC (Royal Canadian signal Corp.) and served until May 7, 1946. Mom served in Canada and the United States. Mom and Dad were married in Meadow Lake, Saskatchewan on July 14, 1944 and together they raised three daughters. Some of Mom's passions included spending time with her family, cooking, baking, watching sports and she took the greatest delight at beating anyone at crib! Mom was known for her quick wit and her awesome sense of humor and she will be missed by her family and anyone who had the privilege of knowing her. Mom is survived by three daughters, Marlene (John) Szwec of Barrhead, Alberta, Karen (Hank) Vander Meulen of Red Deer, Alberta and Laurie (Mike) Beaudin of Calgary, Alberta, two granddaughters, Kelly Phillips of Didsbury, Alberta and Melissa Reeder of Calgary, Alberta. She will also be sadly missed by one brother, Floyd of St. Catherines, Ontario, three sisters, Norma Binns of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Estella (Bert) Dueck of Red Deer, Alberta and Gloria Currie of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. Mom was predeceased by her loving husband of forty-nine years, Ted on July 27, 1993, her father, Albert Rankel on February 22, 1949 and her mother, Ruby Rankel on July 2, 1987. A Public Celebration of Mom's Life will be held at St. Leonard's On-The-Hill Anglican Church, 4241-44th Street, Red Deer, Alberta on Friday, September 8, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. Cremation entrusted to the Central Alberta Crematorium. Interment will follow in the "Garden of Divinity" at the Alto-Reste Cemetery, Red Deer, Alberta.
