Russell Popel of Lacombe passed away on August 20, 2014 at the age of 88. He will be lovingly remembered by his son Russell (Beth), daughter Donna (Dennis); grandchildren: Wade, Crystal, Channing (Kimberly), Alexandria (Fraser); step grandchildren: Christine (Kyle), Michelle and Kyle of Martinsville, SK; great grandchildren Lauren, Bryce and Caleb; sisters Joanne (Joe) and Roseanne (Rudy). Russell was predeceased by his loving wife of 63 years, Jean. Russell spent his working career in northern Alberta working for Northland Utilities, Alberta Power and ATCO Electric. His 35 years in the power industry was very rewarding to him. Russell was active in the many communities he lived in and belonged to many different groups and organizations. The railroad and aviation were both passions for Russell. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, August 27, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Andrew's United Church, 5226-51 Ave, Lacombe, AB. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 101-6751 52 Ave, Red Deer, AB T4N 4K8 or to Heartland Manor, Box 85 Site 5 RR4, Lacombe, AB T4L 2N2.
