1949-2020 ~ It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mrs. Ruth May Alice Donaldson (nee Sterling) of Red Deer, Alberta, at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre on Saturday, October 31, 2020 at the age of 71 years.
Ruth was born in Grande Prairie and grew up on the family farm. The family of McLaurin Baptist Church made her feel loved and welcome. She became a believer in Jesus Christ, as Lord, and retained that strong faith throughout her life.
After completing High School, she went to Edmonton to take Nursing Aide Training. While there, she met her lifelong partner, George Donaldson, and they were married in October 1969.
In 1972, they moved to Red Deer and have resided here ever since. Ruth enjoyed church life, crafts, quilting, needle work and most recently, card making. In the early years, Ruth won several First Place Red Ribbons at the Red Deer Fair, for her skill in crafting and artistic designs.
Ruth will be lovingly remembered by her husband of fifty-one years, George and her three children: her daughters, Irene Donaldson and Doreen Taylor and her husband, Shaun, with grandsons, Evan and Keegan, and her son, Robert Donaldson and his wife, Teresa, with grandsons, Dylan (Felicity) and Devon.
She will also be sadly missed by her brother, Ray and his wife, Diane and her sister, Joan Miehe; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and true friends. Ruth was predeceased by her parents, Jim and Winnifred Sterling and her two brothers, Roy and Rex.
A Private Family Graveside Service will be held. A Celebration of Life for Ruth will be held at a later date. If desired, in place of flowers, please consider donating to your local Women's Shelter. Condolences may be sent or viewed at www.parklandfuneralhome.com
