Ruth Eileen

Ruth passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at Michener Extendicare in Red Deer. Ruth was born in the family farmhouse east of Calgary. After graduating from high school, she took her nurses training at St. Joseph's Hospital in Victoria, B.C. She met John Bugbee at a dance in Innisfail where he was training for the RAF and she was nursing. They were married in Calgary on June 7, 1943 and left immediately for Truro, Nova Scotia. After the war, they settled into farming near Chestermere Lake until October 1973. They then moved to Ridgewood area and continued to farm until they retired in 1987 and moved to Red Deer. Ruth kept active with gardening and volunteering at the Red Deer Nursing Home and the Red Deer Hospital. Ruth is survived by Christine Connor of Victoria, B.C., Bill (Rose) Bugbee of Innisfail, Don (Deb) Bugbee of Bowden, and Mary (Perry) Hilman of Sylvan Lake, as well as 10 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by John in 2001 and Colleen Connor in 1979. The memorial service will be held on January 28, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at the Sylvan Lake Alliance Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of the donors choice.
