JAMES (nee Maetche), Ruth Ilene

Jul. 13, 1923 - Dec. 15, 2017

On December 15, 2017 Ruth peacefully passed into the arms of her Lord and Saviour at the age of 94 years.

Ruth was predeceased by her beloved husband, Alban; daughter, Patricia; grandson, James; sisters, Martha, Idela, Eileen, Vera and Rachel; and her brothers, Albert, Alvin and David. She is survived by her son, Randall (Arlene); son-in-law, Jim Petersen; grandchildren, Joseph (Katherine) Petersen, Lindsay (Joel) Achtymichuk, and Colin James; great grandchildren, Emily, Lena and Natalie Petersen, and Kace Achtymichuk; and brother, Fred (Joyce) Maetche.

Ruth is remembered as a woman of faith, who lived her life marked by her caring and compassionate ways. She had a marvellous gift for sharing hospitality and was an incredible cook. The delights that came from Ruth's kitchen are far too numerous to name. Ruth enjoyed singing and continued to share her love of music, playing the piano well into her ninth decade of life. Time spent with family and friends was always treasured by Ruth.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to long-time caregiver and friend, Val Gonzales; Dr. Keller; and staff at Royal Oak Village in Lacombe, Alberta for their care and support.

All are invited to join in the Service of Committal at Alto Reste Cemetery, Hwy 11 east of Red Deer, on Thursday, December 28, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. A Memorial Service celebrating Ruth's life will follow at the First Church of the Nazarene, 2 McVicar Street, Red Deer, AB, at 1:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Bible Society, 8749 - 53 Avenue NW, Edmonton, AB T6E 5E9. Condolences may be made by visiting www.wilsonsfuneralchapel.ca
