It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mrs. Ruth McRae (nee Eagle), who passed away peacefully at the Red Deer Hospice, on Thursday, May 6, 2021 at the age of 88 years. Ruth was born on July 17, 1932 in Brandon, Manitoba.
Mom spoke often of the joys of her young life; such as the time she spent living in Toronto as a young woman, and the fun times she had roller skating to Rock Around The Clock. It was at the roller rink in Brandon where she met her future husband, Hubert, whom she married in 1954.
With Hubert, she enjoyed a wonderful life of travel and adventure; including fishing and camping in Western Canada, and traveling to many places in the world. Mom always wanted to have a big family. She spoke of raising her five children as her greatest accomplishment, and had great pride in all of her children.
She was also proud of her beautiful yard on Orchard Green in Red Deer, where she lived with Hubert for fifty years. She spoke fondly of the thirty-five years she spent working at stores in Parkland Mall. She considered the friends that she made at Parkland Mall another family.
Mom, your kindness, great wit and beautiful smile will be greatly missed by all of your family and friends.
Ruth will be lovingly remembered by her children, Murray (Melodie), Cindy (Ken), Marshall (Liz), John, Cam (Karen), her seven grandchildren and her two great grandchildren.
Ruth was predeceased by her husband of sixty-five years, Hubert. The family is thankful for the exceptional care and support that Ruth received in her final days from many kind friends and caregivers at Points West in Red Deer, the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre Unit 32 and the Red Deer Hospice.
A Private Family Service will be held at a later date. If desired, in lieu of flowers Memorial Donations in Ruth's honor may be made directly to the Red Deer Hospice Society at www.reddeerhospice.com.
