In loving memory ~
1955 - 2024
"This isn't death; it's glory. It's not darkness; it's radiant light.
It's the sunrise, the dawn of my eternal day."
Ruth Ellen Simonsen passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on Tuesday, October 22, 2024 at the age of 69 years.
Growing up in the vibrant Crowsnest Pass, Ruth developed a deep love for nature, nurtured by her mother during summers filled with huckleberry picking, hiking, swimming at Allison Dam and participating in the Girl Forest Guards. She took great pride in her teaching profession, earning the respect and admiration of colleagues and students alike.
An avid sports enthusiast, Ruth particularly enjoyed golf and swimming. Her signature farewell, "Peace, love, and joy," reflected her unwavering faith and commitment to serving the Lord. She was a proud member of the Secular Franciscan Order.
She will be deeply cherished by her children: Kris (Ocea), Jan, and Simon (Becky); and her siblings, Marion, Howard (Donn), Kathy (Fred), Roy (Natividad), and Janice (Don), who hold her close in their hearts. Ruth will be lovingly remembered by her godson, Jason and family, as well as Jerry and many relatives and special friends. She was predeceased by her brother, James and sister, Lorraine, who, along with many extended family members, welcomed her home.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to Bernadette Brul, Dr. Derick Rautenbach, and the staff of Household 3100 at Michener Extendicare.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 6 McMillan Avenue, Red Deer, Alberta on Friday, November 29, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. Interment will be held in the spring at the family plot, Coleman, Alberta.
