SCHALIN 1919-2008 Milton Arthur Schalin of Pine Lake passed away peacefully with his loving family at his side at Red Deer Regional Hospital on Thursday, March 27, 2008 at the age of 88 years. Milton was born in Leduc where he spent his first ten years. He then moved with his family to Olds to farm in the Poplar Creek District for the next twenty years. There he met and married his loving wife Dorothy. In 1951 they moved to Pine Lake where he continued his passion for farming by building up a herd of Herford cattle, in which he continued to be involved until recently. Milt loved all sports, participating in baseball, hockey, curling and even carpet bowling in his later years. He was a loving and encouraging husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed supporting his children's and grand- children's sporting activities and rarely missed a game. He will be sadly missed by all. Milt is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Dorothy, his daughters, Patricia Cook of Calgary and her son Miles (Paige), Connie Schalin of Victoria, B.C. and her son Paris, Beverly (Bruce) Perry of Elnora and their children Pamela and Craig (Melissa), Milt's son Barry (Jane) Schalin of Pine Lake and their children Manda, Tanner, and Fallon Schalin, Samuel and William Geier, Milt's daughter Gail Zaleski of Red Deer and her son Frank. Milt was predeceased by daughter-in-law Shirley Schalin. A memorial service will be held at Pine Lake Hub Community Centre on Wednesday, April 2 at 2:00 p.m. Memorial donations in Milton's honour may be made to S.T.A.R.S. or Red Deer Regional Hospital or the charity of one's choice.
