SCHMIDEK It is with sadness that we announce that Mr. Joey Darren Schmidek "Joe" died suddenly in an ATV accident on August 30, 2008 at the age of 46 years. Joe was born in Edmonton on November 20, 1961 and lived in Red Deer his whole life. He will be forever loved and remembered by his loving parents, Harold and Elsie Schmidek of Red Deer; his three children, Kassandra of Grande Prairie, Darci-Marie and Connor of Edmonton; one sister, Denica and her husband Rod Vikse and their three children Melissa, Bradley and Joshua, all of Red Deer; and his best friend, Darcy Ritchie of Lacombe. Joe loved the great outdoors, travel and his many friends. He worked most of his adult life in the oil patch and was presently employed by Strata Energy Services. His work took him across Canada, north and south from Vancouver Island to New Brunswick. Funeral Services will be held at Mount Calvary Lutheran Church, 18 Selkirk Blvd., Red Deer on Friday, September 5, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. with The Reverend Don Hennig officiating. Interment will follow in the Christ Lutheran Cemetery, Craig, A.B. In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes in Joey’s name may be made to The Lutheran Hour, c/o Mount Calvary Lutheran Church, 18 Selkirk Blvd., Red Deer, T4N OG2; or STARS FOUNDATION, Box 570, Calgary, T2E 9Z9. A Trust fund for Joey's children has been set up at The Alberta Treasury Branches, Red Deer Main Branch. If friends desire memorial donations may be made at any ATB branch in Alberta.
