Sowiak Mrs. Christina Sowiak of Red Deer passed away at her home on Friday, January 30, 2009 at the age of 86 years. Christina was born in Italy on July 24, 1922. She came to Canada in 1958 and married a few years later to Timothy Sowiak. They moved to Lynn Valley that same year and resided there until Tim's death in June, 2002. A year later Christina moved to Red Deer. She enjoyed reading, playing with her cat (Mimi) and outings with friends. Christina was predeceased by her husband, her parents and one brother. She leaves to mourn one brother in Italy, one brother and two sisters in Austria, and many nieces and nephews. Special thanks to Dr. Cooper for his service to Christina. A Memorial Mass for Christina will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 5508 - 48A Avenue, Red Deer, AB. on Thursday, February 5, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers a donation in Christina's memory may be made to the Red Deer & District SPCA, 4505 - 77 Street, Red Deer, AB., T4N 5H3.
