SIMPSON

Stanley Cheyene Simpson, 82, passed away Thursday, June 19, 2014 at Red Deer Regional Hospital with family at his side. He was born and raised in southern Manitoba and eventually made his way to Alberta where he worked for Royalite Oil in Calgary, Edmonton and Grande Prairie. On a blind date at a Royalite party, Stan met wife Lois and their romance led to marriage in 1956. They moved to Fort Frances, Ontario for five years but returned to Alberta and settled in Red Deer where Stan entered a partnership with Jack Stephen and Lloyd Gillette managing One Hour Martinizing Dry Cleaners. Stan was an early and very active member of the Optimist Club of Red Deer contributing to the development of his community. Stan leaves behind his wife of 57 years, Lois (Gillette) Simpson; son Bernie (Julie) and children Paul, Kelly and Joshua; daughter Wendy (Geoff) Parker and children Benjamin and Riley; and three sisters Bunnie Widney, Elsie Chapman and Shirley Keats. He was predeceased by brothers Frank and Ray Simpson. An avid chef, golfer and fisherman, Stan shared his love of each with his children and grandchildren. He was a member of the Red Deer Golf and Country Club for over 30 years. Stan relished time with his family, especially during many wonderful holidays at home and in sunny places. He derived great pleasure from the hours he and loved ones spent planting and harvesting both vegetables and trees at the family farm in Bergen. Stan was a true family man in every sense of the word and was immensely proud of his children's and grandchildren's accomplishments. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial donations to the Red Deer Hospice Society, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation Calgary, or a charity of your choice. Condolences can be sent to wgparker@shaw.ca. Friends and family, please join us for an afternoon of celebration at Red Deer Golf and Country Club on Saturday, June 28th, 2014, between 2 and 5 p.m. There will be a short program followed by refreshments and time to gather and share warm memories of a wonderful husband, father and grandfather.
