Susan ANDERSON

June 9, 2009

ANDERSON Susan (Mom) will be remembered in many ways by the many people who cared for her during her life. Despite the sadness that is upon us all, we are privileged to enjoy the gift she has left for us in one another: a collage of memories, the many different facets by which the light around us shone differently because she was near. At this time we may, even after many years or even a lifetime with Susan, learn more than we knew before and appreciate her in new ways, assuring us that she continues to be present in the hearts of those she leaves behind. Perhaps the easiest way to reflect on a person is by considering what they loved. Susan will be remembered in the community as an educator, respected by her colleagues and by a lifetime of students and parents. She loved teaching and loved her students. Her work was a bright light in her life. To her family she was many things, including a source of great humour, of patience, of simplicity and stability, of support, and of love. We know that we were, and are, cared for. Susan loved gardening, spending many hours in her yard engaged in what she simply would call "puttering", but which we might say amounted to a tending of life and beauty. She loved the beauty of her garden and the beauty of nature. Growing up, many hours were spent with her family at the cabin at Baptiste Lake near her home town of Athabasca. Later she and her husband, Bob spent many hours camping. They enjoyed their summers off camping in the mountains, British Columbia and the west coast of the United States. This tradition continued after having children and many of Lisa and Christopher's most treasured memories of time spent with Susan were spent in nature. We can remember how Susan lit up among her friends, and the countless smiles and laughs that they brought to her face. Over the years her friends were an unrelenting source of love, joy and support for Susan. She spoke so fondly of her friends and about time spent with them. We (her family) wish to extend our appreciation and thanks to all of you for your love, friendship and support. Remember her smile, remember her laugh, and you will always feel her with you. Susan leaves to mourn her husband, Bob Anderson; children: Christopher (Shannon) Anderson and Lisa (Salvatore) Angotti; Grandchildren: Brin and Adriano Angotti; brother, John Falconer; sisters Jill (Pat) Spelliscy and Judy Falconer; brothers-in-law, Douglas (Paula) Anderson and Jim (Doris) Anderson; numerous nieces, nephews other family and friends. Funeral services were held at the Stettler United Church on Saturday, May 30, 2009 with Rev. Mervyn Penfound officiating. Elaine Hennel was the organist and Trish Clark gave the Eulogy. The family presented a loving DVD presentation to all those in attendance. Susan will be laid to rest in the family plot with her parents in the Athabasca Cemetery at a later date. Family and friends gathered in the C. E. Wing for a time of sharing, fellowship and a luncheon prepared and served by the Stettler United Church Women.
