"LIVE, Love, Laugh" MEINEMA 1949 - 2009 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear husband, brother and friend, Henry Meinema. Henry left this world far too soon on Sunday, August 23rd, 2009 doing what he loved to do... riding through the mountains on his motorcycle with the love of his life behind him. Henry was born on February 14th, 1949 in St. Anna, The Netherlands. He married Val Wright the love of his life in 1973. Henry and Val lived in Red Deer for the past thirty-five years. Henry began his career working for Flint in 1969. Henry was an entrepreneur throughout the past thirty years he and Val ran two successful businesses; Action Trenching and Ryvan Enterprises. Henry was involved with Red Deer Minor Hockey for over twenty years. He coached the Red Deer Elks, making a very significant impact on team players. He co-managed the Optimist Chiefs for four years which resulted in going to the Air Canada Cup three times, winning two silver medals. He played on and sponsored slow pitch, flag football and various hockey teams. Henry’s love of life, his contagious laughter, and his caring and compassionate spirit will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
