Tarance Glennie 'Terry' Hanasyk

After a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer, Terry passed away peacefully at the age of 77 years with his beloved wife, Margaret by his side.
Predeceased by his mother and father, Anne and Max Hanasyk, Terry is survived by his loving wife, Margaret of fifty-five years, his two children, Shauna McGladdery (Kevin) of North Vancouver and Jason Hanasyk (Carola) of Red Deer, his three grandchildren, Keira McGladdery, and Lola and Bauer Hanasyk, who were all the light of his life.
Terry is also survived by his sister, Evelyn Hartel and his brother, Bernie Hanasyk.
Terry was a very hard working, proud family man and provider, a strong protector and was committed to them in every way.
As a sports enthusiast, he has curled, played hockey, football, baseball and most recently pickleball. He was a founding member of the Red Deer Pickleball Club and has spent many enjoyable hours there. This past June, he was honoured with a Mayoral Community Builder Award in recognition for his fundraising efforts in support of the 2021 Pickleball Canadian Nationals.
After a forty-year career in the Engineering, Earth and Environmental Industry, Terry officially retired in 2010 from his role as Manager, and Senior Materials Consultant, with AMEC.
Terry also owned a Custom Home Building Company and built many homes throughout Red Deer.
For the past fourteen years, Terry and Margaret have enjoyed spending their winters in Mesa, Arizona catching up with old and new friends. There, he enjoyed playing pickleball, softball, exploring the Arizona desert on ATV, as well as social activities of all kinds.
A self-taught musician, Terry first picked up a guitar as a boy; and you could often hear him strumming anything from Johnny Cash to Buddy Holly. He enjoyed singing and playing guitar for family and friends but was especially proud to play in a band in Mesa where they played music for small local events within their retirement community.
A special thanks to the Red Deer Hospice Society for helping to care for him in his last days.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary's Parish, 6 McMillan Avenue, Red Deer, Alberta on Monday, December 5, 2022 at 11:00 a.m.
