LIDSTER

Thelma

1943 - 2014

Mrs. Thelma Janette Lidster, beloved wife of Mr. Robert Lidster of Red Deer, Alberta, passed away at the Red Deer Hospice on Tuesday, May 20, 2014 at the age of 70 years. Thelma was born on July 17, 1943 at Sexsmith, Alberta. She was united in marriage to Robert Lidster on September 24, 1966 and the couple had two beautiful children. Thelma was a very loving wife and a devoted mother. Her family was her pride and joy. As a homemaker, Thelma loved to bake fresh bread and buns to the delight of her family. She loved to crochet and made beautiful handiwork; and also enjoyed doing puzzles. Thelma's loving and caring heart was evident to all, in the twenty-three years she spent helping and working with the elderly at the Sutherland Nursing Home in Peace River, Alberta. She and Bob owned and operated the Concession in the Peace River Bingo Hall for thirteen years. Her favorite Holiday of the year was Christmas. Family, grandchildren, great grandchildren and Christmas Presents brought memories of joy, laughter and love! Thelma adored her grandchildren and great grandchildren and cherished the years of happiness and times spent watching them growing up; going to hockey games and figure skating; doing the things they loved together; and seeing her granddaughters get married and have their babies. She loved her Toronto Maple Leafs. She was passionate about watching all their games and wore her Hockey Jersey proudly. Thelma took great pride in her Collection of Leafs Memorabilia for her favorite team. Our Thelma will be very sadly missed but lovingly remembered and forever cherished in the hearts of her family and many dear friends. Thelma leaves to mourn her loss, her loving husband, Robert Lidster of Red Deer, daughter, Tracy (James) Pratt of Red Deer and son, Troy (Wendy) Lidster of Calgary; her grandchildren, Amanda (Josh) Buzzell, Kayla Lidster, Brittanie (Matthew) Kennedy and Jordan (Kristina) Pratt; and her great grandchildren, Jonah and Sawyer Buzzell and Payton and Brynnlee Kennedy and a new baby due in October. She will also be sadly missed by her sisters, Dorothy Chapman of Calgary, Liz King (Gary Stanwick) of Wetaskiwin and Ethel (Angus) Scott of Zama City, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Thelma was predeceased by her parents, Roy and Mary White, a brother, Gilbert and a sister, May Hartwick. A Celebration of Thelma's Life will be held at Parkland Funeral Home and Crematorium, 6287 - 67 A Street (Taylor Drive), Red Deer on Tuesday, May 27, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. The Family invites everyone to feel welcome to honor Thelma by wearing their 'Favorite Hockey Team Jersey' to her Celebration of Life.
