Ted Stephan of Red Deer, passed away on Dec 5, 2019 at the Red Deer Regional Hospital at the age of 69 with his family by his side. Ted was born on April 10, 1950 in Kimberley, BC to Rudolph and Florence Stephan. Ted attended James Fowler High School in Calgary and then Mount Royal College where he met his future wife, Marge. Following their marriage in 1971, Ted and Marge moved to Grande Cache where Ted was a coal miner and a Volunteer Fire Fighter. Following the birth of their son Michael, they moved to Edmonton in 1974 where Ted was a Heavy Duty Equipment Operator and Mechanic, spending much time in the Canadian north working on various construction sites before moving to Camrose in 1976. After the birth of their second son Ryan, the family journey continued where Ted took on various business roles in the oil and gas industry taking them to Leduc in 1981, Red Deer in 1982 and Innisfail in 1987 before finally settling back in Red Deer in 1993. For the last 25 years, Ted was a Pipeline & Facilities Chief Inspector and owner of an inspection firm. Ted had a magnetic personality and was most in his element sharing stories and laughs with close friends and family near and far. He loved playing backgammon and scrabble, travelling, visiting with his sons on the west coast and enjoying his role as a grandfather to three grandchildren.
Ted is survived by his wife Margery of 48 years, his son's Michael (Robin) and Ryan (Jade), his grandchildren, Taylor, Keiran and River, his siblings Tony, Philip, Noelle, Susanne, Naomi and Nicolette and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Rudolph and Florence Stephan.
