THOMAS HAGERMAN

June 18, 2008

HAGERMAN THOMAS 'TOM' REVIS Sept. 15, 1943 - June 13, 2008 It is with great sadness we announce Tom's passing on June 13th, 2008 at age 64, ending his 3 year battle with lymphoma. The youngest of 8 children born to Bruce and Ada Hagerman, Tom grew up on the family farm near Sylvan Lake. He took his early schooling in Sylvan Lake, and high school at The Comp in Red Deer, and then went on to Olds Agricultural College. Upon his graduation in 1966, Hagerman Brothers partnership was formed with brother Bruce and his wife Shirley. Upon meeting and marrying the love of his life Dixie in 1970, the partnership was complete and endures to this day. Tom's farming years included a dairy, hog operation, and growing hay and grain. All of these Tom always sought to improve and expand. Ever the entrepreneur, he decided a career change was timely with the construction of Highway 11 bypass, so following a farm sale in 1989, he got into property management and developed Sylvan Southland Golf Course & Resort, again always learning new ideas and planning expansions. Tom was a savvy businessman, but his true passions were his family, his friends, and traveling far and frequently. This allowed many of us to enjoy wonderful experiences and left many great memories. His other interests included playing cards, camping, dancing and genealogy. He also enjoyed hiking with the group at his beloved Quail Valley Park in Desert Hot Springs, California. Tom was also community minded, and over the years was involved in Unifarm/UFA, a founding member of the Burnt Lake Natural Gas Board for 9 years, Burnt Lake Community Association, member of Memorial Presbyterian Church, Sylvan Lake Kinsmen, Sylvan Lake Rotary, 1913 Days Committee, Spirit of Sylvan Lake, and Boat Parade founder. Tom is survived by his loving wife, Dixie of 37 years; son, Jordan Hagerman of Sylvan Lake; daughter and son-in-law, Tanya and Gary Taylor of Calgary; sisters, Agnes Duval (Edmonton), Gertrude and Ewart McDonald (Red Deer), Aneta Halvorson (Sylvan Lake); brother Jack and Val Hagerman (Kelowna & Gull Lake); sister-in-law, Shirley Hagerman of Markerville; Mother-in-law Barbara (Edwin) Jahraus of Lacombe; in-laws Jyl and Gerald Talsma of Lacombe, Ted Strathman (Marge Wray) of Red Deer; as well as many special nieces, nephews, and cousins and a great group of friends. Tom was predeceased by his parents, Bruce and Ada; infant twin siblings, Elmer & Ethel; brother, Bruce; brothers-in-law, Felix Duval and Howard Halvorson; father-in-law, Fred Strathman; step father-in-law, Archie Baines; nephews Jared Talsma and Jim Duval. A Funeral Service for our well-known, well-loved, and well-traveled Tom Hagerman will be held at the Eckville Community Hall on Wednesday June 18, 2008 at 1:30 p.m. with Rev. Jin Woo Kim officiating.
