HOLLOWAY

Thomas Macgregor

May 20, 1926 - January 24, 2014

On Friday, January 24, 2014, Thomas "Tom" passed away in the Lacombe Hospital & Care Center with his family by his side. Born in Red Deer, most of his life was spent on his farm NW of Leslieville, on which his father homesteaded since 1905. Farming was Tom's greatest passion. In 2007, realizing farming was too tough for him to continue, sold out in early 2008 and moved with his wife into Red Deer wherein his love of gardening was carried out in that a rented garden plot beside an old barn just south of Red Deer was a delight to be at. In 2013, he and Lauree moved to Lacombe, however, his being hospitalized since June 4th, 2013 prohibited him from enjoying life in a smaller setting. Tom is survived by his beloved wife Lauree, step-children Len (Karen), Lee (Sharon), and Shelly (Trevor), step-grandchildren; Tanya, Kyle, Tanner, Tyler and Clayton (CJ), step-great grandchildren; Mackenzie Lee and Sheldon. Also survived by brother George (Madeline) and family as well as sister Margaret, niece Cathe (Greg), nephew Ian (Loree), great nephews Shane (Colleen), Jeffrey, great nieces Christie (Jamie) and Melissa (Chris). Tom is also survived by four great-great nephews Dylan, Wade, Logan and Maks as well as numerous cousins and extended family. Many thanks go to Dr. Matthew Unger and the medical staff of the Lacombe Hospital for the care given Tom during his long sad journey. Also, thank you to all who extended their prayers, kind words and help. Cremation has taken place at Wilson's Crematorium in Lacombe. At Tom's request, there will be no funeral service. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the Lacombe Hospital and Care Center.
