Thurman HENRY

HENRY Thurman Wayne Henry of Red Deer passed away at the Red Deer Regional Hospital on Monday, August 7, 2006 at the age of 88 years. Thurman was born on April 19, 1918 at Grassy Lake, Alberta but grew up in Lindbergh, Alberta. Thurman was a war veteran from 1939-1945, serving various campaigns in Europe. While in England he met his war bride, Betty. They moved to Red Deer and raised their five children. He worked for CP Rail for 36 years as a Brakeman and Train Machine Clerk. He was known to his railway family as "Ted". He also worked for the Good family (Central Alberta Florist) for many years. The most precious things to him were his family and his faith. Also, his two great passions were gardening and Scrabble. Thurman touched so many lives because he was a kind and gentle soul. Our dad was such a good man, he will forever be in our hearts. He is deeply missed but lovingly remembered by his beloved wife of 61 years, Betty, five children; Marg Henry of Halifax, Nova Scotia, Bert (Larry) Filipek of Fruitvale, BC, Bill (Lou) Henry of Lacombe, Alberta, Gene (Joyce) Henry of Red Deer, Alberta and Wendy Henry of Red Deer, Alberta, four grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. He is also survived by two sisters; Millie Baker of Cambridge, Ontario and Ella Ramsbottom of Australia and three brothers; Victor Ramsbottom of Calgary, Alberta, Eugene Ramsbottom of West Bank, BC and Wayne Ramsbottom of Edmonton, Alberta. Thurman was predeceased by his parents, George and Lillian Faye as well as one sister, Jeannine. A Funeral Service will be held at the Red Deer Funeral Home (6150-67 Street) on Tuesday, August 15, 2006 at 1:00 p.m. Those wishing to pay their respects can do so prior to the Funeral Service, from 11:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. Interment will take place at the Fairview Cemetery, Lacombe, Alberta. Those wishing to make a donation in memory of Mr. Thurman Henry can do so to the Heart and Stroke Foundation (101, 5208 - 53 Avenue, Red Deer, Alberta, T4N 5K2).
