HARTENHOF Tjaakje It is with sadness mixed with joy and thankfulness to the Lord for a long and healthy life that we announce the passing away of our dear Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother Tjaakje Hartenhof at the age of 95 years on October 10, 2008. Tjaakje was born in Middlestum, Holland on January 23, 1913 and married her husband Abel in 1936. In 1952 they immigrated to Canada with their four children, Fred, Anne, Peter and Jacob and lived in the Blackfalds area for a short time before moving to the Rocky Mountain House area. In 1965 some of the family moved to Nova Scotia where they took up farming. After the death of her husband Abel, Tjaakje moved back to Alberta at the age of 80 to be close to her daughter Anne. She enjoyed 15 years of life yet in the Lacombe area with the many friends she had, especially Lena DeJong and Hilda Zuidhof and Pastor and Mrs. Sluys. Mother leaves to mourn her passing her four children, Fred (Irene) Hartenhof of London, ON; Anne (Evert) Weenink of Blackfalds, AB their children Allan (Collette) Weenink of High River, AB, Linda (Sam) Swaim, their children Lindsay and Matthew of San Antonia, Texas, Erwin (Kristina) Weenink, their children Avery and Evan of Airdrie, AB, Evert (Deborah) Weenink, their children Dillon, Jaydon and Ericka of Milton, ON; Peter (Kathy) Hartenhof of Kentville, NS, their children Richard (Tanya) Hartenhof, their children Corey and Aaron of Coldbrook, NS, Anna (Chris) Hutchison of Lake Paul, NS, Janice (Joel) Balsor, their son Dorian of Berwick, NS, Tim (Vicki) Hartenhof, their daughter Madeline of Coldbrook, NS; Jacob (Helen) Hartenhof of Coldbrook, NS, their daughter Michelle of Calgary AB. She is survived by three sisters in the Netherlands, one brother and his wife is Wapaun, Wisconsin, one sister-in-law Patty in Pulton, Illinois, and numerous nieces and nephews. There will be no funeral for Tjaakje in Lacombe. Funeral Services will be held October 20, 2008 at 3:30 p.m. at the Christian Reformed Church in Kentville, Nova Scotia with Pastor Michael Veenema officiating. A private interment service will take place in the Berwick Cemetery in Nova Scotia since her wish was to be buried beside her late husband.
