Trevor HOPKINS

September 18, 2009

HOPKINS Trevor Owen Surrounded by his loving family and his brother and sisters, Trevor Owen Hopkins passed into his heavenly home on September 15th, 2009. His last hours were filled with Welsh music and his brother playing familiar songs for him. Trevor was serenaded on his way by those who loved him. Trev was born in 1930, in Vermillion, Alberta to Margaret and Ivor Hopkins. Trev touched many people's lives through his work, his music, volunteering in the community and his church life. Trev began his career working in the family meat market. He worked in the meat industry throughout his life as a salesman with several large meat packers, and retired from Fletcher's Fine Foods in 1996. Dad's life was filled with music from his childhood home to the various musical groups he sang with. He shared his voice in local music productions, as well as numerous choirs in Central Alberta, most recently the Parkland Male Chorus. His family was so proud of Dad's voice and gift of singing. In Lacombe, Dad gave back to his community as he served on the Lacombe Subdivision and Appeal Board and the Lacombe Housing Authority. Three of Dad's passions were his spiritual life, his love of sports and his family. Dad was very active in the church, and tried to never miss a Lacombe Rams football game. We want to thank the Rams organization for the pleasure they gave Dad over the years. Dad really enjoyed family and friends. As his family, we have many wonderful memories of Dad, as do his many friends. Trevor leaves to celebrate his life Norene, his wife of 57 years, his children Debra DeClercq of St. Albert, Gord (Cathy) Hopkins of Rocky Mountain House, Rhondda (Tony) Jones of St. Albert and Pam (Bill) Orchin of Red Deer. Trev had 8 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. As well, he leaves behind his sisters Iris (Iain) McLeod, Leona (Bill) Soley and brother Dave Hopkins.
