Tryntje BAJEMA

July 31, 2006

BAJEMA, Tryntje (Tena) 1912-2006 On July 25, Tena Bajema passed away at the Lacombe Hospital and Care Center at the age of 94. She faced the last months of her life with the same faith in God that had guided and comforted her throughout her life. She was born April 1, 1912 in Workum, Friesland and immigrated to Canada with her family in 1930 at the age of 18. She worked for families in the Blackfalds area. After her mother suffered a stroke in 1932, Tena returned home to care for her until her passing in 1934. After that she remained on the farm and after her dad passed away in 1958, she continued to raise chickens. For many years she was janitor of the WoodyNook Church. Later her cow, garden and a few chickens provided most of what she needed and she was content with her books and knitting. In 2005, she moved to the Lacombe Senior's Lodge. She was predeceased by her brothers Awne, Ott and Bill, and her sister Alice Siebenga. She is survived by two sisters-in-law, Sadie Bajema of Grand Rapids, Michigan and Jenny Bajema of Lacombe, and many nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, August 1, at 2:30 p..m. in the WoodyNook Christian Reformed Church. If desired, memorial contributions can be made to the Central Alberta Christian High School, 22 Eagle Road, Lacombe AB T4L 1G7.
